This is a not a political posting at all but simply a warning to all of us that the Bush tax cuts are set to expire at the end of 2010. The newly elected Congress will be charged with either doing nothing and letting them expire, voting to extend the tax cuts, or creating an entirely new game plan toward taxes.
It's good to be prepared now in case we all have to pay more to Uncle Sam come 2011. Here is a link to a calculator that will tell you how much more you will pay in January if the tax cuts expire. Be prepared for sticker shock!

Don't you think each one of us should pay our fair share for the two unfunded wars? It also pains me to see how many of our men and women in uniform need medical care (some will need intensive, life-long care) when they return.
This country has given me wonderful opportunities and I will gladly pay more in taxes.

I do believe in paying for the health care and all needs of our veterans. Too many times they and their families are left with nothing after sacrificing so much.
What I don't want to pay for is roads to nowhere, $400 hammers, questionable "scientific" research projects, and the list goes on. Items in the "stimulus" package stimulated nothing but we are still paying for them.
There is so much government wasteful spending by both parties. We cannot simply tax and spend our way out of this economic mess. The government expects families to live on a limited government yet government doesn't have to. I'm tired of that!
I actually know that answer to the $400 hammer. Unfortunately, it's a safety thing. Anything that flies in the air must have paperwork associated with it in triplicate to tell where it came from. That includes the batch of metal that was originally used straight to when it was purchased. At each stage someone is required to 'sign off' on it. That way,if there is an accident, they can plot each plane that was made with the same materials and remove it from service.
That being said - every time I do that tax calculator I come out better off if the Bush Tax Cuts are expired.
I lived in the UK for 7 years. I was actually on National Health Care after Luke was born. The media has completely misled the public about everything regarding Health Insurance Reform (aka Obamacare). It would be nice if we could get the actual facts and be able to make an informed decision based on those facts.
